What modality do you offer?

My practice is Integrative – Combining approaches tailored to you as a whole person:

- Person-Centered – A humanistic, empathetic approach focused on your inner strengths
- CBT and Mindfulness-based Approaches – Practical and cognitive tools for managing thoughts, emotions, and somatic practices to build body awareness and safety
- Internal Family Systems, Transactional Analysis, Trauma-Informed Mindfulness – Supporting deeper internal exploration and healing

What issues can you help with?

I support clients to navigate:
- Anxiety, depression, low self-esteem
- Identity, gender, sexuality, neurodiversity
- Relationships, break-ups, ethical non-monogamy
- Trauma, bereavement, addictions
- Life transitions, burnout, workplace stress
- Health, disability, chronic conditions, menopause
- Emotional regulation (anger, jealousy, phobias, OCD)
…and broader existential concerns.

You don’t need a mental health diagnosis—therapy can also be space for reflection, self-exploration, life planning, or creative exploration.

What are your areas of specialism?

My practice is rooted in empowerment, compassion, and connection.

I specialise in working with identity, self-esteem, relationships and LGBTQ+ wellbeing—My aim is that you feel seen, heard, and supported exactly as you are.

Are there any conditions or people you cannot work with?

Therapy with me would not be suitable for those in active mental health crisis, those who have a psychiatric disorder or are experiencing psychotic episodes, those involved in heavy drug or alcohol use. Therapists registered with BACP are ethically bound to work only within their areas of competence and training and for the duty of care to clients it is important that the right care is accessed.

Therapy with me would also not be suitable for you if you are looking for a purely behavioural or cognitive solution. If you are seeking support regarding domestic violence, sexual assault or eating disorder,  I would recommend specialist support and services in these areas.

Where and how do you work?

- In-person: At a light, welcoming warehouse space in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire.
- Online: Via secure video
- Walk-and-Talk: In local canal-side settings

Sessions are one hour, available weekly or fortnightly or on an ad-hoc single session basis.

How much do sessions cost?

- Online, In-person & Walk-and-Talk: £60 per 1‑hour session
- Single Session: £60 (1 Hr) or £80 (1.5 Hr) for a focused, solution-oriented support on a one-off basis

I have limited number of concessions available —please ask.

Are you qualified / registered with an accredited body?

I’m a BACP Accredited counsellor and psychotherapist holding:
- Postgraduate Diploma in Person-Centered Counselling and Psychotherapy & CBT (University of Salford)
- Certificates in Transactional Analysis, Creative Therapy and various other modalities
- Trained Mindfulness Teacher (MBSR/MBCT, Breathworks & Bangor)

What is Walk-and-Talk Therapy?

It's counselling on foot—blending movement, fresh air, and the therapeutic process:
- Ideal if sitting in a room feels intense
- Helps you feel grounded and embodied

- Removes potential barriers
- We walk gentle, local canal paths around Sowerby Bridge (dogs are welcome!)

What if I only need short-term help?

- You may select a Single Session: One session with focus and potential to move forward
- Or choose Short-Term: 6 weekly sessions for structured support

Is it confidential and safe?

Absolutely. As a BACP member, I adhere strictly to their ethical code—confidentiality, non-judgement, respect and safeguarding are foundational to my practice.

What to Expect

What happens in the first session?

The first full session is about getting to know each other and exploring:
- What you’d like support with
- What therapy can offer
- Any concerns or questions you have
- How we might work together

It’s a chance for you to see if the approach and fit feels right for you, and there's no pressure to continue if it doesn’t.

Do I need to prepare anything beforehand?

Not at all. Just bring yourself. Some people like to jot down a few thoughts or questions beforehand, but there’s no expectation. Therapy is a space where you can begin exactly where you are, even if that means saying, “I don’t know where to start.”

What will sessions be like?

Each session is:
- 60 minutes
- Led at your pace—sometimes focused and talkative, other times quiet or reflective
- Based on your goals, with space for whatever feels most important that week
- Grounded in warmth, non-judgement, and acceptance
There’s no pressure to “perform” or to have it all figured out.

Will you give me advice or tell me what to do?

Not exactly. In the integrative approach, I won’t direct your life or give instructions. Instead, I offer:

- Gentle guidance and considered challenge
- Insightful reflection
- Space to hear your own inner voice

That said, if you're looking for practical support (e.g. tools for anxiety or relationship patterns), integrative work can include psychoeducation or techniques from CBT, mindfulness, analysis or parts work.

How often should I come?

Most clients attend weekly or fortnightly, depending on their needs and availability. We can discuss what feels manageable for you, and this can change over time. Walk-and-talk and online sessions offer flexibility. It is fine to have a combination of online or in-person sessions.

Is it okay if I get emotional in sessions?

Absolutely. Crying, silence, frustration, laughter—all of it is welcome. Therapy is a space where you can express what’s often kept inside. There’s no “wrong” way to show up.

What if I don’t know what I want from therapy?

That’s okay. Many people come to therapy not knowing what they want—just that something feels stuck, overwhelming, or missing. Together, we can gently explore what's going on and help you gain clarity.

How long will I need to attend?

It varies; some people benefit from just a few sessions and others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper emotional patterns or life transitions. We’ll check in regularly and review how things are going so it stays helpful and aligned with your needs.

Can I end whenever I want?

Yes. You’re always in control of your journey. Ideally, we would take time to reflect on the decision together in session to ensure it’s a supportive ending.

What’s your therapeutic style like?

Clients have described my style as relational, collaborative, grounded and organic.
I aim to meet you as a human first, not as a diagnosis or “problem to fix.”

What if I’m exploring my gender or sexuality?

Therapy can be a supportive space to explore questions, feelings, and identity at your own pace—without pressure or judgement.

Do you work with non-binary, trans, and gender-diverse clients?

Yes. I commit to ongoing training and supervision in gender diversity and strive to use affirming language and practices that respect your unique self-expression.

How can therapy help with minority stress or discrimination?

Therapy offers tools to manage stress, trauma, and emotional impact caused by societal stigma, bias, or exclusion. Together, we can build resilience and nurture self-acceptance.
